Runway 23/15 at Lee was re-opened with a small ceremony on 10 March 2015 after resurfacing. The work was a major investment by Fareham Borough Council, demonstrating their determination that the airfield will succeed and prosper. During the resurfacing work the old runway lighting was removed. The old lights were mounted on concrete blocks to either side of the runway. Not only were these a hazard to any aircraft departing the runway but they were also non-compliant with standards for spacing. Provision was made for the installation of compliant lighting in the future as part of the works.
