Group set up to bring business to Daedalus

Published Date: 02 November 2010
A group has been set up to help ensure businesses invest in and use the Daedalus airfield.
Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage formed the Daedalus Action Group to encourage firms to come to the business park.

Its first meeting saw Communities and Local Government Secretary Eric Pickles' parliamentary private secretary Steven Hammond, representatives from the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire, the South of England Development Agency, the coastguard, Hampshire County Council, and Fareham and Gosport councils agree to work together to make the site more attractive to companies.

Mrs Dinenage said: 'It was positive. We discussed all the obstacles which have stood in the way of making the best use of the business centre, including the fact the land is owned by several different groups.

'Daedalus has a great number of advantages over other sites, particularly for aviation firms, because it has the largest airfield for business use in the entire region. I am very hopeful the group will get results.'

The group will meet again at the end of this month (November).
