Lee to Lyneham for Help for Heroes
RAF Lyneham Flying Club held a fly-in 6 Sep 09 to raise money for "Help for Heroes". This is a charity well known and well supported by a number of our own local aviators, who helped raise £17000 last year. Did you know H4H have raised £30m for wounded servicemen and service women in their first two years?
A number of us were quick off the mark and fortunate enough to be allocated a few of the 30 slots and support the event. Earliest slot was for David Skertchly, Malcolm Barton and the Naomi House charity "teddy-pilot" in G-ATIS.
Phoenix Steve, Nuala and Frank flew in with G-BOHA and with Alan Davies in G-BWUH.
Peter Bentley is always an interesting arrival in his Tipsy Nipper, no less so on this occasion ;-) but sadly no photo!
Jon Butts flew in N147KA with Martyn Stretch and Morgan Wirth.
The Lyneham club laid on extensive tours of C-130 variants, both "Glass" and "Classic"
Hawk and Tornado were on static display. Last time I saw this Tornado was a rather memorable tuesday afternoon ...

Lyneham Flying Club's "Seb", a C-130 pilot was keen to see the SR22 cockpit, this shot taken earlier when Lyneham inbound.
It was a very interesting and enjoyable visit all round and a tidy sum was raised for charity. Many thanks to Officer Commanding RAF Lyneham and the RAF Lyneham Flying Club.
We invited Lyneham Flying Club to visit us at Lee - whether that would be by C-130 or PA28 etc who knows!
